Getting started with a new phone, tablet or laptop

Online Resources

If you’ve arrived back after the Christmas break with a new smartphone, tablet or laptop, we have instructions on how to get it set-up on our services so you can make the most out of using your new device to support your learning.

Connect to eduroam Wi-Fi

eduroam is the College wireless network that is broadcast throughout the campus. Connecting is easy, all you have to do is enter your college email address and password when prompted. If you encounter any issues, we have instructions available for:

Google Mobile Apps

Get more done on-the-go! We recommend downloading the Google G Suite apps to use your new mobile device to support your learning. You can access all your college work in the Google Drive app, create and edit documents with Docs, and keep up-to-date with your courses with Classroom. To help you get started we’ve created the Google Mobile App Guide.

Apps for Students

In addition to Google Apps, we’ve collaborated with our friends in the Library to create a list of our recommended mobile apps for students. It includes apps like Evernote to help you stay organised, Quizlet for revision, and FitBit to help you stay healthy.

Download Microsoft Office

Google’s G Suite for Education is our preferred office productivity suite, however, there are times when Microsoft Office is needed. As a member of the college you are entitled to install the latest version of Microsoft Office on up to 5 devices for free. Follow the link below to find out more.
