Adobe Capture is a fantastic app that enables you to find fonts and colours or create a vector simply by taking a photo.

Use your mobile device as a vector converter to turn photos into colour themes, patterns, type, materials, brushes and shapes. Then bring those assets into your favourite desktop and mobile apps — including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dimension, XD and Photoshop Sketch — to use in all your creative projects. Using Adobe Scan and Google Classroom

The video below will quide you through installing the app and uploading your first scan to Google Drive, which you’ll then be able to upload to Google Classroom.

We’ll take you through the steps below too:

  1. Open the Adobe Scan app.
  2. Press the Camera icon.
  3. Place what you want to scan in view of your device camera.
  4. Wait while the app detects the page and content, when it’s done that it will automatically take an image of it.
  5. When the image has been taken, you can drag the borders around the page to more accurately outline a page.
  6. Once happy with the image, press Continue.
  7. Repeat steps 3-6 until you have scanned everything that you need to.
  8. Press the small image of your last scan in the bottom right corner.
  9. Scroll through the pages and make any visual adjustments you wish.
    1. You can crop out unwanted bits, reorder the pages or change the coloring to make it easier to read. You can also use the Cleanup feature to remove unwanted blemishes in the image.
  10. Once happy, press Save PDF.
  11. The app will now prepare the final PDF for you.

Now to upload this to Google Drive.

  1. On the screen with your PDF, press Share.
  2. Press Share a Copy.
  3. Locate and press Save to Drive or Google Drive.
  4. Enter a name for the file, select which account to save it to and where to save it then press Save.

Now to add to Google Classroom.

  1. Open the class you want to upload this to in Classroom.
  2. Locate and open your assignment.
  3. Click on Add or create.
  4. Select Google Drive.
  5. Locate and select your new PDF.
    1. If you have just uploaded it, you should find it easily in the Recent tab.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Now, if that’s all you need to do for that assignment you can hand it in.

Pomodoro

Pomodoro is a time management technique designed to minimise anxiety and maximise your efficiency. 

Basically it involves 25 minutes working sessions, followed by a 3 to 5 minutes break. After each 4 Pomodoro sessions, take a longer break of about 15 to 30 minutes. This has been scientifically proven to boost work morale/efficiency as it helps to prevent you from getting burnt out on your work and becoming distracted.

It’s a great technique and in a way it rewards you for working, you know that once you’ve done 25 minutes of work you can have a 5 minute break to play on your phone or whatever you want to do. Then once you’ve done a couple of sessions you can have a longer break.

It all started from a Tomato shaped kitchen timer that the creator used when he was in University. There are a few different websites or apps you can use for the Pomodoro Technique, or even a kitchen timer if you have one. Just start by searching ‘pomodoro’ on your device app store.

Egenda is a simple to use app, all it takes is 3 steps; Create your classes, add some assignments, hammer your homework.

Noisli allows you to improve your focus and productivity by mixing different sounds to create an environment perfect for you.


It’s worth us mentioning straight away that Noisli is free in your internet browser either at the website or as a Chrome Extension but the Android and iOS mobile apps do cost £1.99. So if you think Noisli could work for you, make sure you give it a good test using the browser based system before you think of spending money on it.

Anyway, Noisli allows you to create your own audible envrionment by mixing certain sounds together based on whatever relaxes you.

If a late night camping in the woods is your idea of heaven, turn up the sound of the log fire and the summer night, you’ll hear the crackling of the logs and the distant noise of crickets in the background. Notion for students is a free tool that lets you write, plan, collaborate and get organized in the one app. It’s designed to boost your personal productivity by reducing the amount of different apps you need to use for your work. Even if you still need to use Google Docs for college work for example, you can embed the Doc straight in to Notion to get as close to the one app lifestyle as possible.

Don’t just take my word for it, Ali Abdaal a Cambridge University medicine graduate and now junior doctor has made a useful review video that takes you through all the features of Notion as well as a few tips and tricks to get the most out of it.

IFTTT / If This Then That

If This Then That is unique app that allows you to link your apps and devices in new ways. For example, you can get it to automatically log all phone calls to a Google Sheet or upload any photo you put on Instagram as a native photo on Twitter.


IFTTT calls the tasks ‘recipes’, as in you put a load of different bits in to get a final outcome.

Examples of what you can do with IFTTT:

  • Get a daily text with the weather report for the day
  • Automatically log time and telephone number to Google Sheets each time you get a phone call
  • Set your phone to silent when you get to work or college
  • Upload all screenshots you take on your phone straight to Google Drive

Personally, i have a habit of putting my phone down at home in odd places then not being able to find it, or because it’s a sturdy Android device I throw it somewhere and have no idea where it’s landed. I have a recipe set up so when I ask my Google Home device ‘Where’s my phone?’, IFTTT will turn my phone on to the maximum volume and sends a call through so I can find it easily.
