With approximately 300 collections composed of over 2.5 million images (and growing), scholars can examine wide-ranging material such as Native American art from the Smithsonian, treasures from the Louvre, and panoramic, 360-degree views of the Hagia Sophia in a single, easy-to-use resource. Open Book Publishers

Open Book Publishers are the leading independent Open Access publisher in the Humanities and Social Sciences in the UK: a not-for-profit Social Enterprise run by scholars who are committed to making high-quality research freely available to readers around the world. Their site currently offers 173 EBooks that cover a broad range of subjects.

JSTOR

Despite its title, JSTOR Secondary Schools Collections is a specially created package of over 2,700 archival journals and four primary source collections covering the arts, sciences, and business that contains a range of content that will be useful for Barton Peveril students.

Emergency Library

The Internet Archive is making the 1.4 million books in its lending library available for free worldwide as digital books via Open Library!

All you need to do is set up an account and you can access up to 10 books online at a time and read them on devices.

Whether you need textbooks, classic literature, genre fiction or just a good read, it’s worth a look.You can also create and share reading lists, browse by genre and share what you’re reading on social media.

A large number of universities and other academic institutions are making eBooks and digital journals and articles freely accessible via Project Muse. At present, there are 15000 + books and 230 + journals available, with more being added regularly These resources cover a great variety of subjects and topics. ProQuest EBooks are now available for unlimited borrowing – meaning you will no longer have to wait to borrow an EBook.

Proquest Ebook Central is home to titles from the JISC eBooks for FE project, which aims to give sixth form students free online access to important books for their studies. Titles available cover a wide range of subjects and are presented in a full colour, easy to navigate online reader.

The college has signed up for a ClickView subscription which provides access to a huge range of TV shows, movies and video content for students and staff to use.

It gives access to TV shows that have been on TV in the past couple of weeks but it does also allow you to request TV shows and movies too. Providing ClickView can access them, they will make it available and send you a link to access it. Just as an example, you can (at the time of writing) watch this morning’s episode of Newsround from CBBC, watch all episodes of Frozen Planet, or the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog film.
