Guest Access to Eduroam Wireless

Important: Guest Wi-Fi access expires after 8 hours. The visitor will need to re-register after this time. Please contact helpdesk@barton.ac.uk if your visitor requires longer access.

Visitor needs to:

1. Connect to WiFi: Instruct the visitor to go to their device’s Wi-Fi settings and connect to the “BP_Guest” network. This will open a webpage automatically.

2. Register: Have the visitor click “Register” on the webpage.

3. Enter Details: The visitor should enter their email address and your staff email address in the “Sponsor” box.

Important: The visitor must have a staff member sponsor their WiFi access. Student email addresses will not work.

4. Wait for Approval: The visitor should click “Register” and wait for you to approve their request. They won’t be able to connect until you approve.

You need to:

5. Approve Request: Check your staff email for a message with the subject “Request for Wifi access.” Click the link in the email to approve the request.

6. Notify Visitor: Once you’ve approved the request, inform the visitor that they can now click “Continue” on their device to access the Wi-Fi.

Please note if the visitor needs to connect more than one device to the WiFi:

  • They do not need to register again.
  • They will have received a separate email with a username and password.
  • They can then use these details on other devices.
  • Have them follow Step 1 again (go to their WiFi settings and connect to BP_Guest).
  • On the login page, they should enter the username and password provided in the email they received and click ‘Sign in’.
